I believe I have finally run out of charities to whom I personally give. There are probably other small ones that I assist during the year, but I cannot think of them off the top of my head. Here is a nice website that lists charities in the St. Louis metro area: http://www.charity-charities.org/charities/MO/StLouis.html
In closing, I [...]

I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but here in suburbia, we have Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts that monthly leave plastic bags on our doors. Inside the bag is a request for a canned good donation to the local foodbank. You simply leave the canned goods in the same plastic bag a [...]

This one is for my husband….the perfect excuse for him to purchase a Rams Cheerleaders calendar. The proceeds from the sale of the calendars are directed to the St. Louis Rams Foundation, which supports programs designed to engage young people in activities that promote good health.
I’m sure your local professional cheerleaders have a similar program!

First, Merry Christmas to all of my friends, family, and blog followers!
Second, I’m going to cheese out here on the charity thing but direct you to a very worthwhile blog. The blog relates how to help others in the St. Louis metropolitan area; however, even if you’re not here, you may find it useful to [...]

We frequent Dierbergs, a local grocery store chain. I noticed at the beginning of December (which was the last time I did a full-blown real grocery run) that at the checkout, they have little tabs that say $1, $3, or $5 on them. You pick up one of these, pay that amount over your bill [...]

I’m kind of in a hurry this morning, and may have reached the end of the groups to which I normally donate. I’ll do a double check of that later.
For now:

One of my bulletin boards always sponsers a holiday charity drive and this year, they have chosen to support Share Our Strength, whose slogan is : No Kid Hungry.
It’s an organization that feeds children here in America.
In addition to donating money outright, you may purchase ecards or standard holiday cards to this organization.
According to their [...]

If you’re unable to adopt a loving cat or playful dog this holiday season, please donate your old t-shirts, towels, bed linnens, and sweatshirts to either your local humane society or your local animal shelter. They use these soft materials to line the animals beds, to clean messes, etc. I did this the other day [...]

As often as they will allow, I try to donate blood for the blood banks. ALWAYS a good idea. I mean really, what more can I say about this? They are one of the very few organizations that take blood and stock the blood banks. They are easy to find and many office parks and/or [...]

A friend of mine (Angela, her blog is to the left over there) recently sent me a mailing concerning an upcoming trivia night for charity. Okay, so she sent me information concerning two, but I felt this one needed to be discussed ASAP, as their big fundraiser is on the horizon.
The organization is the Garden of [...]

I’ve spent some time surfing around the web for local charities that are uniquely ours–St. Louis based or for St. Louisans. I came across this one a few days ago: the St. Louis Society for the Physically Disabled.
The mission of the St. Louis Society for the Physically Disabled is to meet the needs of our [...]
